  • First Steps to Small Group Teaching - 16/05/2012

    Early Career Researchers often take on some kind of teaching role alongside their research whether leading a seminar, demonstrating practical aspects of science courses, assisting with field trips or standing in front of a class to lecture. However few researchers have had the opportunity to learn or develop an understanding of the pedagogy that underpins effective delivery in these roles. This workshop is designed to introduce researchers to the basic elements of learning and teaching that will help them to build confidence in teaching others.

  • Project Management in a Nutshell - 22/05/2012

    This workshop has been designed to guide participants through the fundamental principles of project management and de-mystifying the associated jargon along the way.

  • PASS training for Academics - 22/05/2012

    PASS is UWE's Project Approval Support System. All proposals for external funding will need to go through PASS to be approved internally before submission. If you have never used PASS before or would like a refresher then this is the course for you. Learn about why we have PASS, how to initiate your project on PASS, how to cost your project and contracts information.

  • BEN Event - Finance - 28/05/2012

    The event is for aspiring and current entrepreneurs, as well as anyone else who wants to learn more about the business of innovation. This event consists of 2 presentations, an interactive workshop and networking with food and drink. It will give you an opportunity to discuss your business ideas and challenges within a supportive peer group, and learn about organisations and resources that can help. It is open to everyone - not just BEN members.

  • Future directions - 29/05/2012

    Researchers acquire a broad set of skills and competencies as a consequence of the projects or work they undertake. Understanding these competencies and being able to describe them is the challenge that many of us face especially when seeking employment. This workshop has been designed to help researchers understand the value of the skills and provide opportunities for researchers to consider the future direction that they could take.

  • BEN Event - Entrepreneurship - 14/06/2012

    With speakers from university and business, this BEN event will be packed with advice for all entrepreneurs.

  • SDW- Using NVivo9 for Qualitative Data Analysis - 02/07/2012

    NVivo9 is a software package used to organise and manage qualitative research data. This workshop introduces the functionality of this package and encourages participants to utilise their own data in the course to learn how to get the best from it. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Christina Silver (University of Surrey) who is an experienced researcher and user of a range of computer assisted qualitative data analysis software packages.

  • Sub-Saharan Trade and Legacy 2012 - Plymouth - 05/07/2012

    With the Ghanaian Olympic Team coming to Plymouth for their training camp prior to the London 2012 Games, join us  to learn about the trade opportunities and the county legacy projects occurring with this Sub-Saharan nation. This event, which is free to attend includes a buffet breakfast.

    With the Kenyan Olympic Team coming to Bristol for their training camp prior to the London 2012 Games, join us  to learn about the trade opportunities and the county legacy projects occurring with this Sub-Saharan nation. This event, which is free to attend includes a buffet lunch.
