SPUR - grants for early career researchers 2012/13 (Round 4)
Applications are invited from early career researchers for projects to be undertaken during 2012/13.
The purpose of the scheme is to support early career researchers, in key areas of research at UWE, to undertake some preliminary work with a view to making a substantial bid for external funding to take this work forward.
The scheme will comprise grants between £5,000 - £20,000 to be spent during 2012/13.
For the purposes of this scheme, an 'early career researcher' is a member of staff in the early stages of their research career, most likely but not exclusively at the post-doctoral stage and typically within 5 years of their first academic appointment. However account will be taken of individual circumstances such as career breaks and personal career trajectory in determining eligibility.
Applications need to have the support of an Academic Leader and your Head of Department. Proposals should then be submitted by Thursday 16th February 2012 to your Associate Dean (R&KE);
- Business and Law - Professor Martin Boddy
- Environment and Technology - Professor Glenn Lyons
- Health and Life Sciences - Professor Robin Means
- Arts, Creative Industries and Education - Professor Gay Attwood
Please also send a copy to Alison Vaughton, Research Administration, RBI - Alison.Vaughton@uwe.ac.uk
Briefing sessions to take questions and answers about the scheme will be held at Bower Ashton on Monday 16th January, 3pm in OB16 and at Frenchay on Tuesday 17th January, 11am in 4E22.
