Equal Opportunities Code of Practice
In line with the requirements of the RAE, the University has developed a Code of Practice for the selection of work. The guiding principle of the Code is that the selection of work (and therefore of staff) should be on the basis of demonstrable research quality in the context of the RAE and of UWE's RAE policy, and that the process of selection is carried out in a transparent manner.
The University's aim is therefore to ensure that the optimum amount of eligible research (and therefore of staff) is included in UWE's RAE submission, taking into account the published procedures and criteria of the RAE 2008 and the University's RAE policy and broader research strategy ('work' in this context may refer both to published outputs and other contributions made by staff in the form of research income, student supervision and other indicators of esteem).
