The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement

Welcome to the NCCPE

The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement sits at the heart of a major new initiative to make universities more welcoming and accessible, and to deepen the social impact and relevance of their work. More about the NCCPE.

Working with the six beacons, and the wider sector, the NCCPE aims to increase the quantity and quality of public engagement in UK universities. Based in the Watershed Media Centre on Bristol's harbour-side, the NCCPE is a partnership between the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol.

Each beacon is a partnership between universities and a host of other organisations including museums, community organisations and broadcasters. Each is committed to trailing new approaches to public engagement, and to unlocking the huge potential of universities within the communities they serve. More about the beacons project.

Please contact the NCCPE if you have any enquiries about the project, or if you would like to get involved in our work in any way. In June 09 we will be re-launching our website with lots of new features, and opportunities to get involved in our work.

Breaking Down Barriers

Breaking down barriers

The National Co-ordinating Centre is aiming to break down barriers and open up higher education to the public. Universities will be more welcoming and accessible, and people in higher education will find their research, teaching and learning enriched by contact with the outside world.
